What to Do in the Event of an Accident or Vehicle Theft


In the event of an accident or theft, the renter must immediately contact the law enforcement authority for the jurisdiction where the accident or the theft occurred and also contact National Car Rental at the location where the vehicle was rented. The driver must inform National as to what jurisdiction the report was made to law enforcement authorities and deliver to the National rental location all summonses, complaints, and paper of any kind received in any way relating to an accident or theft involving the vehicle.

Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle

The rental vehicle may not be used by or for any of the following prohibited uses, subject to applicable law:
  1. by an unauthorized driver

  2. by any driver under the influence of intoxicants, drugs, or any other substances known to impair driving ability

  3. for any illegal purpose

  4. in any abusive or reckless manner or if convicted of careless driving

  5. to carry persons or property for hire

  6. to tow or push anything

  7. in any race, test, contest, or training activity

  8. on unpaved roads

  9. leaving the vehicle and failing to remove the keys and the vehicle is stolen

  10. for any use in Mexico without the prior written permission of the renting location. All protection is void in Mexico. Your written permission must be obtained and special insurance must be authorized.

IF THE VEHICLE IS OBTAINED OR USED FOR ANY PROHIBITED USE OR IN VIOLATION OF THE RENTAL AGREEMENT, THEN ANY LIMITATION OF RENTER'S RESPONSIBILITY UNDER THE AGREEMENT SHALL BE VOID AND RENTER SHALL BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL LOSS AND RESULTING DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF USE, CLAIMS PROCESSING FEES, AND ADMINISTRATIVE FEES.

Carriers Slash U.S. Capacity

JUNE 09, 2008 -- Domestic airline industry downsizing continued in recent weeks as several carriers announced steep capacity withdrawals, employee reductions and fleet retirements to cope with unrelenting fuel costs. Industry analysts said further reductions are likely—as are higher fares, more crowded planes and reduced schedules.

Receipts for Airline Tickets

As a reminder, priced itineraries emailed to travelers or arrangers for airline tickets purchased through Travel Services, Travelport, Centre for Travel or E-Travco are accepted as official receipts for travel expense reporting.  Travelers may print itineraries from www.Viewtrip.com by entering the passenger's last name and confirmation number found at the top of the itinerary to the right of the date.  However, we encourage use of the emailed priced itineraries as a way to conserve and "Go Green" since the Viewtrip itineraries tend to be very lengthy by including unnecessary additional information.

Fiscal Year End Deadline for Airline Tickets Charged to the DBAF

If you are utilizing the DBAF for the payment of an airline ticket and want to be certain it will be billed in this fiscal year, please make certain those tickets are purchased no later than 13 June.  Please refer to the Purchaing Card guidelines for tickets charged to the Purchasing Card.
